Large bronze sculpture by Arnold Auerbach (1898 - 1978).
A scarce work, conceived C1928 and posthumously cast in bronze by the artists widow in 1980. Numbered 4/8, one of which was acquired by The Tate in 1986.
Auerbach was born into a Jewish family in Liverpool, 1898. He trained at the Liverpool School of Art, as well as in Paris and in Switzerland. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy and with the Goupil Gallery in London, as well as the Walker Art Gallery and in 1927 his work was included in the Exhibition of Jewish Art at the Whitechapel Art Gallery in London and he exhibited with Ben Uri Gallery in the summer exhibition of 1944.
