Pair of William H. Littlefield (1902 - 1969) Boxing Studies

A pair of 1920’s boxing scenes by William H. Littlefield (1902 - 1969).

After studying painting at Harvard University, Littlefield left for Paris to further his studies where he met and shared a studio with Stanley Hayter. Upon returning to America in 1929 his career developed with the invitation to participate at the Whitney Museums first biennial and in 1936 he was part of a group exhibition at MOMA.

These drawings made between 1928 - 1929 are part of a large series he made whilst in Paris and were most likely exhibited during the Societé des Artistes Independants annual exhibition.

His work is held in many private and public collections including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Harvard Art Museum and Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

They have been newly framed in Limed Oak with non reflective museum quality glass.

Ink on paper.

Signed & Dated, 1929.
