The Three Bathers by André Derain (1880 - 1954).]

A central figure in the development of modern art in the early 20th century. Born in Chatou, France, Derain trained at the École des Beaux-Arts and quickly became associated with avant-garde circles in Paris. Alongside Henri Matisse, he co-founded Fauvism, a radical movement that rejected traditional representation in favour of vibrant, expressive brushwork. The artists drawings are an often overlooked but highly important part of his artistic output. They reveal both his technical skill and his experimental approach to composition, form, and linework.
