Jean Cocteau (1889 - 1963) Letter

A wonderful letter with original drawing by Jean Cocteau.

Written as the war was breaking out in Christmas, 1939 it features the last line of his poem ‘Eliane’s Room’ with a drawing of a young man under a moonlit Paris.

‘This night Christmas will descend to warm us up a little’.

The poem featured in the letter is seen in ‘Eliane’s Room’ which was published in the Pléiade, p1241.
